What Defines an Indie Webcomic Series?
An indie webcomic series is fundamentally a comic strip or graphic novel published primarily on the internet by independent creators, free from the oversight of major publishing houses. This independence is a defining characteristic, granting artists and writers complete control over their content, schedule, and monetization strategies. Unlike traditional print comics, indie webcomic series often experiment with format, pacing, and interactive elements unique to the web.
The term indie emphasizes the creator-driven nature, where the vision of the artist is paramount. This autonomy allows for a remarkable range of topics, from deeply personal memoirs to sprawling fantasy epics, all presented with distinct voices. Each indie webcomic series is a testament to individual passion and dedication.
